The ICD-10 coding system has
replaced the ICD-9 coding system effective October 1, 2015. The ICD-10 coding
system consists of two separate code sets. ICD-10-CM is the diagnosis code set
which has replaced ICD-9-CM Volume 1. ICD-10-PCS is the procedure code set
which has replaced ICD-9-CM Volume 3.
CMS Deadlines: CMS no longer allows a 90-day grace period
for using discontinued codes.
